Raymond E. “Nick” Nicholson, Jr., served in Vietnam from February 66 to April 67.  Nick reached the rate of “Staff Sergeant” while serving in the Marines.  He also served as a Drill Sergeant in the Army Reserves for 12 years.  Nick was a  Patriot’s Patriot!  After returning from a motorcycle trip to Ohio on Memorial day and seeing many Flags flying  in that state and upon arriving in North Carolina, not seeing very many, he told his wife: “I’m going to put a Flag on top of my barn so everyone will be able to see and enjoy it, and know what it means.  He cut the stars out of metal and painted the United States Flag himself!

Nick went to be with the Lord on  March 8, 2006.  Like so many Vietnam Veterans who were exposed to agent orange, with cancer.

Remember to always tell a "soldier" how you appreciate their sacrifice and service to our country.  You are free because they serve.
