I’m a very conservative Republican, who worked hard to get George Bush elected president both times. I still believe he is light years ahead of John Kerry. However, I have been very disappointed in his adamant lack of action to keep illegals out of our country! I did a talk show on January 11, 2004 about the so called "Guest Worker Program"-- just after he announced it for the first time. No one thought it was a good idea then and the same holds true today-- except for George W. Bush. It is my opinion, that his proposals are far too little, and way too late. No one in their right mind believes 6,000 National Guardsmen in a support role is going to make a significant difference as hordes of illegals pour like Niagra Falls, across our borders! We need at least 20,000 to 30,000 National Guardsmen with the authority to arrest, and take the illegals back to Mexico immediately. Does anyone think for one second, that a person who is a criminal and stepped across our border illegally is going to show up for a hearing in 45 days? Let’s get real! By that time, they either have a job with some scum bag employer who knows full well most of the time he is hiring an illegal, as he/she rejoices they can get by with paying them far less than a U.S. citizen! One third illegals will be on welfare, keeping deserving retired people from getting much needed services. Our people will have to go to the back of the line seeking emergency medical care in hospitals. While you the taxpayers foot the annual $200 billion, for non-citizens. What do you think about that?
The president says we cannot deport 12 million people-well I guess not, if they don’t try! By rewarding the 12 million lawbreakers already here, we only encourage more to come across! Where will this end? People we must demand that our politicians do something to stop the hemorrhaging and do it now! The illegals are selling drugs, bringing diseases that we thought had been eradicated in the United States such as leprosy and a stubborn strain of T.B.. What do you think about that?
Then there are the terrorists who just step across, to do only God knows what-- to Americans sitting like decoy ducks. Last year Homeland Security reported there were 8,000 Al-Qaida connected members captured. But they believe this is only 20% of the ones who came into our country. That means there are at least 32,000 more here waiting for Osama to give the next order to kill Americans.
I emailed some of you and asked for your opinion on the President’s Speech, while not giving my own opinion-- and here is what some of you had to say:
Female-Lexington, NC: "I think it is too little too late. I like the idea of patrolling the border, BUT I absolutely do not like the idea of letting the illegal immigrants become citizens. I think nothing short of sending them back will benefit our nation. Getting serious with patrolling the borders should have started 30 years ago. I voted for Bush, but I don’t think he is doing a very good job, although he inherited most of the illegal immigrant mess. Soon WE will be a minority THEN we’ll see how many rights the minority have. I think 99% of the Washington crowd is more interested in their political career than doing what is best for the nation. And as Kaye would say: " that’s just my opinion!"
Female-Vero Beach, FL: "I thought it was too little too late. The fact that Ted Kennedy agreed with him, made his suggestions that much worse."
Male-Wilmington, NC: "In reference to the Presidents speech: I felt he was making a step in the "right" direction. If anyone listened to the content of the speech they would have heard the president outline how National Guard Troops would be sent to assume a lot of the administrative duties of the Border Patrol, which would in turn free them up, to actually get out and patrol the borders and therefore be more able to apprehend illegals. The news media spin reports that Bush is "sending the National Guard to patrol our borders.""
"As usual, the liberal biased media has misreported the president’s intentions, and has given the uninformed public a skewed view of things. By reporting that the National Guard is being sent to patrol the borders it infers that Bush is a warmonger that wants to turn border security into a military operation against poor defenseless immigrants, and once again casts them as victims instead of the law breaking criminals they really are. The president’s plan is not going to solve the problem of securing our borders, but isn’t it better to light a candle than to curse the darkness?"
Female-Greensboro, NC: "In my opinion, and they are like noses everyone has one.
I think that all people who want to come to the U.S. should be here legally! No green cards (unless you are in classes to become a U.S. citizen), and especially no work-cards. Hispanics can come over here and work for 6 months send money that is tax free back home and then go home and start a business of their own. Then they are allowed to come back over here, and save up more money, just to send back home to benefit them without any taxes being paid by them while they are here. Now here I am working everyday, just to make ends meet, and still am not able to save. I also think that they should be fluent in English. Everything is over taxed because of the people who are here illegally. Why do we give them free medical and some of our "own" can’t get good treatment. I think it is long overdue what was said, let’s just hope this will stick, and something good will happen. I think once they get rid of all the illegals, this will bring more jobs for "our" own people. (If some of them aren’t too lazy to work.)" "I know this is just my opinion, and no one will ever agree, but this is how I feel as an American."
This lady may be surprised how many of us agree with her comments!
Female-Lexington, NC: "The president isn’t doing much of anything that would be of any help to the American people. What a low down shame! Personally, I think Bush has sold out to the "rich" for love of the dollar. He knows his term is close to over, and he is watching out for himself and his buddies in Texas, that have large farms and want lots of cheap labor-- and to "blank" with the Americans and whether they have jobs or not! Makes me so angry!"
Thanks for your comments. Now you have to decide what you think, and what you are willing to do about it! I suggest you call or write your congressman and senators. Next call White House Public Opinion at (202) 456 1111, follow instructions, and you will talk to a real live person. You do not have to give your name, just the state you are calling from. By doing this you multiply your efforts. Don’t allow the president to get by with just spitting in the Ocean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The majority of United States Citizens are very concerned about the Illegal immigration problem in our country. For more than two weeks now "Fox & Friends," a morning news show, has asked their viewers to vote which topic they prefer out of three topics the hosts have pre-selected, and send their choice to them via email. The topic that receives the most votes is the topic of the next hour. And 98% of the time the chosen topic has been "Illegal Immigrants." I have seen poll figures of 86% who are concerned, and furious over the illegals being here–especially the royal treatment they are getting.
President Bush is claiming "we cannot deport 12 million people!" Well I guess not, if someone doesn’t make an attempt! He has led the charge to allow the criminal illegals to travel the "road to citizenship!" In the next breath he says: "I’m not in favor of amnesty." Mr. President, I think you speak out of both sides of your mouth. Just who do you think is going to believe a statement like that?! This is amnesty–period.
Ronald Reagan is one of my heroes. However, he believed by granting amnesty to 3 million illegals in 1986 he was going to solve the problem. The action only caused capitulation and just multiplied the problem we are now dealing with. The road to citizenship is nothing more than amnesty! It will do nothing more than encourage more hordes of illegals to step across our borders, take advantage of our schools, medical facilities, and instate tuition, among countless other "freebies.." What do you think about that?
Our daughter attended East Tennessee State University, in Johnson City, Tennessee, and since we live in Independence, Virginia, her tuition was 50% higher. And yet we are allowing illegals to pay instate tuition when they aren’t even citizens of the United States! Go figure!
The previous estimation of 12 million illegals, may be extremely low. Some are estimating 20-50 million or more here now! Listen to this: We are going to take the word of an illegal criminal on how long they have been in this country, if we use the "road to citizenship," the President claims is not amnesty! We are also going to allow them to pay taxes on the three years of their choosing out of the five years they have been in this country illegally! Do you believe for one second that an illegal criminal is going to be truthful when it comes to how long he/she has been here, and how much income they have made for three of the five years, they say they have been here? Not on your life! Would you like to have a deal like this on your taxes? How sweet does the road to breaking laws get-- if you’re an illegal alien? Isn’t this approach only encouraging more of the same behavior? You betcha-- in my book!
If this "sneaking in the back door" amnesty approach is allowed to happen, you just watch how the illegal population explodes! Why shouldn’t it? They have found a "Sugar Daddy," that treats them really good. A lot better than U.S. citizens! What do you think about that?
As an example, let’s look at the "anchor baby" syndrome: illegals come here and have a baby. You the taxpayers pick up the tab for the doctor and hospital expenses. The illegal couple becomes eligible for citizenship, the family starts to collect welfare for the child. An illegal couple came to California, and were making $18,000 a year tax free picking fruit. The woman had an "anchor baby." The baby had some problems, the hospital bill was over $100,000. The illegals do not worry because you the taxpayer pick up their medical bills. Oh yes, the couple is now collecting $600 a month from welfare for the baby. The woman gets pregnant again right away (possibly in the hospital bed). Next they collect $400 a month from welfare for this baby. Do the math-$18,000 tax free, $1,000 a month for childcare. This all adds up to $30,000 annually! Plus, free medical care for these two babies! And this is before amnesty! Who wouldn’t want to come to America?
Does it sound like illegal labor is cheap to you? Not on your life! The only person benefitting from paying the illegal low wages are the scumbag employers who taxpayers are subsidizing–while the employers are laughing all the way to the bank.
My solution to the problem is: let’s arrest these low life employers who hire illegals and give them a long time to think about what they have done in prison! Do you agree?
In the meantime contact your congressman, senators and White House Public Opinion at (202) 456 1111, then follow instructions. You don’t have to give your name, just the state you are calling from! Do it! Do it Now! You can make a difference if you get off the "Stool of Do Nothing!"
Amnesty by any other name--NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
